Scene 13 of 19 · 1 Kings 8

Solomon's Temple and the Glory of God

The Presence that travelled in a tent for centuries comes to rest in a house of cedar and gold, and a cloud of glory fills it. Yet on the day he dedicates it, Solomon kneels and prays the strangest prayer: heaven itself cannot contain God, how much less this house. The temple is a meeting-place where God puts his Name, not a box that holds him.
